30A Beach Photographers | Watersound Beach, Florida | Bell Family

The Bell family is one those families that you wish lived right next door to you so that you could be best friends with them forever and ever. Ha! I met them for the first time last year in Watercolor, Florida! Our session was rained on but with their encouragement, we took the session indoors and it ended up being one of my favorites of 2018!! This year we photographed these growing girls in Watersound Beach, Florida with no rain and a breathtaking pink sunset!

I was SO excited that Andrew of Andrew Lanier Arts was there to create the below lifestyle video of their vacation. Warning - grab tissues!! There is something incredibly special about having a lifestyle video of your session to bring you right back to those moments that you will never get back again.

Bell family - I love you. The end.

Weekend Scenes : Kayaking and Saturdays Are For The Girls

It has been a hot minute since I did one of these! Partly because my weekends have been looking a little bit like changing diapers lately and partly because we work some weekends! Anyways, here we are and this past weekend was more exciting than most. Ha!

Started off with a day for just me and my girl. We ran errands around Destin and had lunch at our favorite tex-mex restaurant, Burrito Del Sol! (This was just one of two trips we had there over the weekend. Ha!) She also decided to boycott a nap on Saturday so I laid her in our bed and she went straight to sleep beside me. At least one of us got a nap!

Then, it was time on the water. Our favorite! We stopped by to see some of our best friends who just opened a bait and tackle shop in Fort Walton Beach (Emerald Coast Bait and Tackle - check them out!) and stock up on some lures. Cory went fishing on his kayak and I had a joy ride on mine. BTW, I love my Becasa bracelets! They are waterproof and made for a water lifestyle!

There is something about getting out in nature that refreshes you immensely. Being on the Coast helps a little, too. ;)

Rosemary Beach Engagement Photographer Alex + Taylor

Where to even start with these two and their Rosemary Beach, Florida engagement portraits? Let's start with how stinking cute they are together! They flow together so easily without even trying!

Taylor (who is the genius behind Hazen & Co) has been coming to Rosemary Beach with her family for years, so naturally this was the perfect backdrop for her and Alex's engagement portraits! They captured the coastal style effortlessly but also the flare of Rosemary perfectly! But what you do you expect when you are a style expert who has been designing jewelry since she was nine years old. ;)

Grayton Beach Portraits Lanier Family
30a photographer

I absolutely love this family session because it is my sister and her gorgeous family!! They love the coastal dunes and overgrown trails in 30A, so it was a perfect combination!

I truly think one of the coolest perks of being a photographer is getting to create these portraits of my own family. It is so neat to know what stage of life they are in and be able to document that along the way! Sappy but true!

And how ADORABLE are their kids! I am biased but I also know they are the most beautiful kids ever! ;)

Fine Art 30A Weddings | Triple Crown House Wedding

Under the lights, they danced the night away.

T + C's Triple Crown House wedding in Santa Rosa Beach was magical. The love they have for each other is full of so much grace and gentleness. I loved watching them together!

Seaside and Grayton Beach Weekend Scenes

I joke to Cory that this time of the year is when I have to cram in as much fun as possible, see as many people and have as many lunch dates because once "busy season" hits, it is chaos. The best of kind, of course. :) It is just sad that off season falls during the cold months because are are not cold weather people. It is why we live in Florida. ;)

Anyways -

1. Anna and I had breakfast at the Black Bear Bread Co. . It was SO good. We have been wanting to try it since they opened and it did not disappoint! It doesn't help that Baker Design Co. made it super cute, either!

2. We hiked in the Grayton Beach trails where I was convinced we were going to get eaten by a bear. We survived.

3. Ate lunch with my sister and friends at the new Southslice pizza place in Rosemary Beach! It is also super cute!

4. We walked around Seaside with coffee in hand to watch the sunset. Went into Sundog books. (That place always gets me in trouble. Hello, new coffee table book.)

5. Had coffee on the beach (again) and found a tiny sand dollar.

6. Ate at one of my favorite places to eat on the Coast - Burrito Del Sol. There is a location in Fort Walton Beach and Destin. We hit up the one in Destin! Southwest chicken tacos to the rescue.

As I type this, I am embarrassed that all of my adventures have to do with "we ate this" and "it was designed so cute" but that is life, friends. Or sadly mine. Ha!

You Are My Reason

Everyone says to know your "why."

I have spent so much time searching for mine. One year I thought it was ______. It changed a month later when I thought maybe my why is ______. I was searching for a reason to validate my reason for pursuing photography. Everyone said once you figure that out, everything else falls seamlessly into place.

As time has gone by and my "whys" have changed, I keep coming home to the things that have always had a death grip on my heart before photography was ever in the picture. They have been there for so long that I never thought about them being my "why." I don't even like using the term, "why." I like to call those never ending things my reason because when I think of a "why," I think of something that does change with circumstance, maturity and life. But a reason - that evolves out of the depths of who you are. It has been unwavering since the first day.

At the end of every day - He is my reason. My family is my reason. People are my reason.

Photography is just a God given vehicle for it all.

Before blog posts, emails, inquiries and deadlines, I came alive when I captured the essence of a friend or family member on my point and shoot camera. I loved who I saw in front of me - so many people, even some on different continents - but they all reminded me of Him. It was a way for me to say to people - look at you! Look at how perfect you are and perfectly loved you are!

That is a feeling I have not lost yet even today.

I can get emotional at a wedding or while photographing a family because I see what they may not see in that minute. I feel like screaming - look! You are in the midst of the beginning of the most beautiful commitment you will ever make after salvation. Look! You are absolutely stunning! Look! You are leading those sweet kids! They are watching every beautiful move you make!

I then look at my husband and our two dogs. They are my reason. I have prayed for that man before I ever knew his name. We have spent the last 5 or 6 years watching God mold our hearts for more than we thought possible. A lot of that molding came through our dogs! Ha! That is for another time but God knows how to best teach us. ;)

A busy Summer is starting to slow down. I am overwhelmed with thankfulness for the people I was so lucky to meet this year. I am also reminded heavily that while my "why" has changed over time - my reason in Him never has nor will.

Kyte Family Watercolor, Florida Film Photographer

The sweet Kyte family had a blast staying in Watercolor, Florida this Summer! They were such a pleasure to spend time with and photograph!

These kids made me wish my parents had taken the advice of my sisters and I when we told them that we needed them to adopt us a baby brother growing up. Watching these two play and poke at each other in the sweetest way made my heart melt!

I have so much respect for these guys! You can tell a lot about a family when photographing them. The Kyte family has an undeniable special relationship full of acceptance and grace!

Haney Family Grayton Beach, Florida Family Film Photographer

Family sessions like the Haney family session in Grayton Beach, Florida remind me of why I love Summertime so much on the Gulf Coast. The punches of color in the sunsets. The laughter of kids as they run up and down the shoreline without a care in the world. It makes my heart come alive!

This crew had all of that! Thank you so much, Haney family, for letting me photograph your flawless family! You made me fall in love with these Summer nights all over again!

Leggett Family Rosemary Beach, Florida Family Photographer

There are many reasons why families from all over come to Rosemary Beach, Florida year after year. The beaches are the best, Rosemary Beach is jaw dropping gorgeous and the coastal vibe here is completely intoxicating.

I will never get tired of photographing families in Rosemary. Ever. The Leggett family was a prime example of why. They were so down to earth, hilarious and loved the white washed houses of Rosemary Beach just as much as I!
