Under the lights, they danced the night away.

T + C's Triple Crown House wedding in Santa Rosa Beach was magical. The love they have for each other is full of so much grace and gentleness. I loved watching them together!

You Are My Reason
seaside-florida-wedding-photographers-kayliebpoplinphotography

Everyone says to know your "why."

I have spent so much time searching for mine. One year I thought it was ______. It changed a month later when I thought maybe my why is ______. I was searching for a reason to validate my reason for pursuing photography. Everyone said once you figure that out, everything else falls seamlessly into place.

As time has gone by and my "whys" have changed, I keep coming home to the things that have always had a death grip on my heart before photography was ever in the picture. They have been there for so long that I never thought about them being my "why." I don't even like using the term, "why." I like to call those never ending things my reason because when I think of a "why," I think of something that does change with circumstance, maturity and life. But a reason - that evolves out of the depths of who you are. It has been unwavering since the first day.

At the end of every day - He is my reason. My family is my reason. People are my reason.

Photography is just a God given vehicle for it all.

Before blog posts, emails, inquiries and deadlines, I came alive when I captured the essence of a friend or family member on my point and shoot camera. I loved who I saw in front of me - so many people, even some on different continents - but they all reminded me of Him. It was a way for me to say to people - look at you! Look at how perfect you are and perfectly loved you are!

That is a feeling I have not lost yet even today.

I can get emotional at a wedding or while photographing a family because I see what they may not see in that minute. I feel like screaming - look! You are in the midst of the beginning of the most beautiful commitment you will ever make after salvation. Look! You are absolutely stunning! Look! You are leading those sweet kids! They are watching every beautiful move you make!

I then look at my husband and our two dogs. They are my reason. I have prayed for that man before I ever knew his name. We have spent the last 5 or 6 years watching God mold our hearts for more than we thought possible. A lot of that molding came through our dogs! Ha! That is for another time but God knows how to best teach us. ;)

A busy Summer is starting to slow down. I am overwhelmed with thankfulness for the people I was so lucky to meet this year. I am also reminded heavily that while my "why" has changed over time - my reason in Him never has nor will.

Destin Wedding Photographers | Destin FL | Patten + Alyssa
30a wedding photographer

Patten and Alyssa's intimate seaside wedding in Florida was centered on an intimate gathering of their closest family and friends, neutral details and legacy.

It was love at first sight for Patten and Alyssa. After their first date, Alyssa went home and told her best friend that she knew she was going to marry Patten one day.

Fast forward a few years and that is just what they did! Soon after came a precious little girl! They had never had a wedding, and it was Alyssa’s dream to do so when they renewed their vows to each other. She wanted to wear a gorgeous wedding dress, walk down the isle with a bouquet in hand, and make it a destination wedding experience on the beautiful beaches of the Emerald Coast of Florida!

What was once a dream of extensive wedding details and guest lists became a desire to create a special time for their family, and the vows they rewrote for each other.

As Alyssa's father walked her down the aisle, I saw how all of the little visions she had dreamed of had come together into something more beautiful than just the physical surroundings. Everything they chose to do was full of intention and purpose.

Right after they read the vows they rewrote for each other, they asked everyone to come up and surround them and their little girl as they dedicated not only their lives to following Jesus, but also their little girl's life! There was not a dry eye on that beach!

I knew after our initial consultation in which both Alyssa and I teared up during that they were so special, but they were that and more!

Patten & Alyssa, it was such an honor to be a part of this time in your lives. You are leaving a legacy for your family. You left one on me!

Little Isabel is the sweetest thing ever! When Emerson and Alex first reached out to me, they said that they had a new addition to their family and it was going to be her first time to the beach. I could tell that they were in love with her from our first conversations, but seeing them with her ... I was about to burst.

Forty-five minutes before we were set to meet, a storm rolled in. I was in the parking lot early (story.of.my.life.) texting Cory with all of the, "Oh my gosh. This is horrible. What should I do? Where did this thing even come from? It's been so beautiful! Should I call them and cancel?" He told me to wait it out, and holy smokes, I am glad we did. Emerson and Alex were such troopers and were completely unfazed by the massive, dark clouds. As soon as we started photographing (hoping and praying for the best), the clouds turned into the most evenly lit, pink sunset tones.

And, I died.

Emerson and Alex, thank you for being such troopers. You have made the most gorgeous family.

A colorful bouquet, sunset portraits, her Father singing during the ceremony and an intimate wedding, surrounded by their closest family and friends was only the beginning. Zachary and Lauren's wedding day was so sweet and SO much fun. I think I laughed harder than ever being in the room with her and her girls as they were finishing getting ready.

And let's just talk about Lauren for a minute... Flawless. Right?! And that bouquet? Killer.

Zachary & Lauren, your wedding was one for the books! Thank you so much for letting me be apart of it and witness it! <3

Justin & Courtney's Seaside Engagement Destin, Florida Photographer

If there is something we can all be sure of, it's that something about the sea brings pieces of us alive.

Justin & Courtney met right out of high school. It was a normal work day for Courtney until a cute guy walked into the store with a few of his friends that caught her eye. As the guy and his friends were checking out at the store, she found herself being drawn to him. Unbeknownst to Courtney, that guy was drawn to her too. Within a few minutes of leaving the store, Justin sent Courtney an invitation on social media followed with a message saying that he couldn't take the chance of not reaching out to her.

Justin proposed on the beach in Destin, Florida where we took their engagement photos. Their killer style and the undeniable looks they gave each other said it all.

Aaron & Nikita's Seaside Honeymoon | Destin, Florida Photographer

Who does not love being near the Coast? Salty air lingering, crystal turquoise waters, sunsets that seem  to beam colors unlike anywhere else. There is no where more like paradise than here.

Aaron & Nikita's honeymoon session took place in Destin, Florida at the Harborwalk Village. The laid back vibe fit these two so perfectly. Not only that, the stone-white columns of the Emerald Grande and it's majestic views made the perfect backdrop for this romantic honeymoon session.
